Top 10 Tuesday | International Women’s Day–Favorite YA Fictional Females
Hey there! Welcome to Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly meme hosted by The Broke And The Bookish! This week’s topic was “Characters You Love That Everyone Else Hates OR Characters You Hate That Everyone Else Loves” BUT I couldn’t think of more than two characters for each of those topics, so INSTEAD, to celebrate Internatinal Women’s Day, I decided to do Top Ten Favorite YA Fictional Females. So let’s get straight to it…
- Celaena Sardothien (The Throne of Glass Series by Sarah J. Maas): Celaena is strong, opinionated, and not afraid to be herself. She totally slays at everything!
- Kestrel Trajan (The Winner’s Trilogy by Marie Rutkoski): Though not physically strong, Kestrel is strategically brilliant (and just brilliant in general). She shows that physical strength isn’t the only way t be strong and certainly isn’t everything!
- Karou (The Daughter of Smoke and Bone Trilogy by Laini Taylor): Karou is loyal, kind, emotionally and intellectually strong, and creative!
- Lara-Jean Song Covey (The To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before Duology by Jenny Han): Though very young, I think Lara-Jean is a very realistic depiction of a 15-16 year old girl. She’s funny and sweet and isn’t afraid to admit she’s learning and growing and doesn’t always know what to do and I think that’s truly admirable.
- Alina Starkov (The Grisha Trilogy by Leigh Bardugo): Similarly, Alina isn’t the most mature heroine, but she always tries. She grows and learns across the series and always tries to do the right thing.
- Clary Fray (The Shadowhunter Chronicles by Cassandra Clare): Clary is loyal, funny, creative, and diplomatic. She’s the type of friend I think anyone would be honored to have!
- Meira (The Snow Like Ashes Trilogy by Sara Raasch): Meira is headstrong, determined, feisty, and strong! She always does what her heart tells her is right and what she believes in, even when others don’t believe in her.
- Lola Nolan (Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins): Lola knows who she is and totally owns it. She proudly marches to the beat of her own drum and is totally unapologetic!
- Tris Prior (The Divergent Trilogy by Veronica Roth): Tris is fierce, loyal, brave, an selfless. Her moral strength comes in spades and she alway does what she thinks is best for others.
- June Iparis (Legend by Marie Lu): June is strong and intelligent. At 16, she’s already a in one of the top ranked schools and on her way to being a military officer! She works hard and is focused and ambitious, but also caring and kind.

I <3 Clary Fray! Have you seen the new show, Shadowhunters? On ABC Family? It's really good!
Awesome list! This is a great twist on the prompt. 😀
