    1. thanks for the question sara! i sometimes have a vague idea of what i want (kind of like a theme and maybe a color scheme every once in a while), but sometimes i just wing it. i collect a *ton* of pictures, usually centered around how i visualize a book’s themes, messages, motifs, symbols, and characters and then i choose a few and experiment with coloring, font, and other elements.

      1. I’m thinking of trying my hand at making edits, but I find it very hard to find pictures that look like what I want in my head. Does that make sense? haha Do you use Google or something else? And what kind of things do you search for?

        1. i understand. you kind of just have to train yourself to have an eye for it.but i’m sure you do. i use google, pinterest, unsplash, and pexels. i think for this one i used a ton of search terms. i used “arabian,” “arabian woman,” “scheherezade,” “pakistani,” “pakistani bride” and lots of other stuff to give you an example of my process.

          1. I was trying to do one for Yelena from Poison Study but it’s really hard to find a long black braid from the back haha. I managed to do one for Manon Blackbeak which isn’t that good but I posted it on my Tumblr anyway. I’ll keep working on it. Thanks for your help!

          2. no problem, best of luck! i’m sure you’ll do great! send me the link to your finished edit and i’ll check it out 🙂

          3. p.s. i’d try google image searching “braid tumblr” then scrolling through to find a black or brown braid. that should give you some good results 🙂
