Alright! We are back on track and heading full steam ahead this week! Welcome back to Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly meme hosted by The Broke And The Bookish! This week’s topic is “Top 10 Books to Read if You Want to Feel [X].” So I chose to do my top 10 books to read if you’re looking to escape reality! Here we go…
- The Wrath and the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh: This beautifully written retelling of The Arabian Nights is just out of this world. Ahdieh pulls you into a glorious, rich world and doesn’t let you go!
- Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas: This book is perfect for escaping reality with its action, adventure, and romance! The book just sucks you in!
- Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff: This. Book. It just sucks you in. The format causes you to get so immersed in the story and feel like you’re right there! So perfect to get away from life!
- The Winner’s Curse by Marie Rutkoski: Warning: this book is intense. But that’s why it’s so good for escaping reality! You just get so invested in the story and the characters!
- Wolf by Wolf by Ryan Graudin: This is another intense book which combines incredible writing with such a compelling plot! There’s a lot of things going on in this book and it’s hard to explain, but just trust me, it’s good.
- Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor: This is perhaps my favorite book for escaping reality. It’s just so gorgeously written and such a unique story! So good!
- Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi: If you want an interesting romance with a hint of dystopian to take you our of life, this is your book.
- ANY Harry Potter Book by J.K. Rowling: I feel like I don’t really need to explain this one…
- Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo: This reach features rich worldbuilding and compelling characters. It’s so easy to lose yourself in Bardugo’s decadent Grishaverse.
- The Shadowhunter Chronicles by Cassadra Clare: Any one of Clare’s series set in the complex world of the shadowhunters will do. It’s easy to lose yourself in these books which Clare obviously put a ton of work into!
I LOVE your list — I really enjoyed TWATD and Wolf by Wolf, in particular, and I thought those were books I definitely sank into. Great choices!
