99 Days by Katie Cotugno
This book made me so mad. It as so much slut shaming, including self slut shaming by the main character. Halfway through, with the main character continuously calling herself a whore every other page, I couldn’t take it anymore. I feel no grief over chucking this book aside and not looking back.
Carry On by Rainbow Rowell
This one I’m pretty disappointed about. It was one of the most hyped and loved books of last year and I wanted to like it, but I just…couldn’t. Something about it just didn’t jive with me.
Talon by Julie Kagawa
This book promised dragons and epicness. What I got? Extensive descriptions of the joys of Chinese food, surfing, and a girl trying to fit in. Yuck.
Truthwitch by Susan Dennard (Temporary DNF)
This book. I’m just sooo bummed about it. It was my most anticipated book of this year and I just…? I don’t know what it was about this book, but I had to put it down because it was putting me in a book slump.
Firstlife by Gena Showalter (Temporary DNF)
This is another book tthat I recently set down to be picked up later. I just really disliked the narrative voice–it was crude and immature and banged you over the head with constant rude jokes. The story was good, though, so I’m torn because I liked the book, but at the same time I disliked it…
DNF’ing a book other people love is the worst! I’ve been intrigued, but super wary, about reading Truthwitch because of all the frustrated reader reviews.
most people seem to love it, i’ve only seen 2 other bloggers who dislike it, so i’d give it a go 🙂
Ooh, yes, a LOT of the book bloggers I follow were super excited for Truthwitch and then ended up not liking it, which really bums me because I was excited for a witchy book!!

Oh God, good choice DNFing 99 Days. I pushed through just to find out what happens and I was soooooo mad!!!!! Worst book I’ve read. But I have seen so many mixed reviews around Truthwitch that I really am scared to even pick it up!
oh goodness, i’m glad i stopped then! i’d give truthwitch a try, maybe it just wasn’t for me!
The ending wasn’t even worth it either. Complete ridiculousness!
When I hear constantly how boring and dull it is, I’m not sold. But I may eventually lol but it’s not at the top of my priority list (;
