THIS WEEK IN BOOKS
Currently Reading I generally try not to listen to multiple audiobooks all at once, but I have three books out from the library that I really want to finish before they go back on June 22. So I’m currently listening to…
- The Rose and the Dagger by Renee Ahdieh
- A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas
- The Bronze Horseman by Paullina Simons
- The Shadow Queen by C.J. Redwine
Books Borrowed And Bought So I have some surprising news on this front…
-Bought So admittedly I didn’t exactly buy these audiobooks. I got them for free through Audiobook Sync, a summer program run by Audiofile which is open to everyone and which gives everyone two free audiobooks per week. But I couldn’t exactly put these two books in the “Borrowed” or the “Received for Review” categories. If you’re interested in getting either or both of these books for free, they’ll be up for grabs until this Wednesday.
- I’ll Give You The Sun by Jandy Nelson
- Zac & Mia by A.J. Betts
-Received For Review I’m super excited to get to…
- The Last Boy and Girl in the World by Siobhan Vivian (digital audiobook–finished copy from publisher)
- Unplugged by Donna Freitas
- Last Seen Leaving by Caleb Roehrig
READ AND REVIEWED
- Gotham Academy Vol. 1: Welcome to Gotham Academy by Becky Cloonan, Brendan Fletcher, and Karl Kerschl

PERSONAL AND BLOGGING NEWS
So bad news in the audiobooking arena. My laptop’s power cord broke so I had to order a new one which won’t arrive for another 3-4 days. Which means that I won’t be able to listen to my audiobooks from the library. Yes, I could use the app on my phone, but it’s just much more of a pain in the rear. *Big sighs all around* “How are you writing this if you have no laptop?” you may be asking. I’m using a computer at my mom’s work, which is a godsend!
But anyhoo. Enough lamenting. What else have I been up to? Well, I had to get a bunch of blood tests done, so I had to drink this icky sugar water and got stuck with a ton of needles. It was fun (hint: that was sarcasm). But other than that, the week wasn’t that bad. I’m preparing to start taking 2 classes at the local community college in the fall. But since the credits aren’t transferable to my university, I have to pay out of pocket for the classes. My mom has vowed we’ll find some way to pull the money together, though. I’m thinking of taking a biology course and a 2nd year college Arabic course, so that’ll be fun and challenging. I’m looking forward to it!
It’s been chill on the blogging front. I’ve been kind of relaxing on posting because honestly I’ve needed to. There’s not too much planned for this coming week either because of my broken laptop cord. *sighs once more*
Anyhoo, how are you guys doing? What have you been up to? Anything exciting planned? Tell me all in the comments!
Over and out!

Thank you so much for mentioning my post, I’m so glad you enjoyed it! I read I’ll Give You The Sun a while back and I highly enjoyed it so I hope you like it too. I also ‘read’ The Last Boy and Girl, and I saw read in quotes because I actually DNFed that one… I hope you like it more than me though! Sorry to hear about the broken laptop cord and all that bloodwork, you should reward yourself by buying some books (physical books this time LOL). I’ll have to check out that audiobook program because I’ve been meaning to listen to a few but some of them are kind of $$$…
sure thing! i hear great things about ill give you the sun so im glad to hear you enjoyed it too! sorry about the last boy and girl in the world–it seems a lot of people disliked it. you should definitely check out audiobook sync!
Jessica Jones YAAASSS!!. Thanks for recommending some discussions because I’ve been busy this week and I didn’t have a time to look and read some other discussions in a book community. 🙂
yay for jessica jones! i hope you enjoy reading the discussions!
Yes I am 🙂
I’ve never read an audiobook 🙈 I’ve been meaning to, but keep putting it off haha.
Jessica Jones and Sense8 are AMAZING. I’m so excited for the second season for both of them.
Also, sorry about your laptop! Hope it’s back in action soon. And blood tests are the worst. I’m okay with needles, but when it comes to blood I’m out haha.
thanks lauren! ah i’m such a fangirl for sense8! my laptop should be good by the end of the week! i actually dont mind the blood and ive gotten so many blood tests that its more of a hassle than a pain!
Thank you for sharing my post! ^_^ Honestly, I keep meaning to get into audiobooks, but the price sort of scares me and sometimes the voices are really annoying. I would love to just lie down and listen to a book when I’m feeling really tired. Do you have a few recommendations? 🙂
of course! thanks for writing such a great post! hmmm, recommendations…i’d try the audiobooks of illuminae by amy kaufman and jay kristoff, the diviners or lair of dreams by libba bray, or anything narrated by elizabeth evans or julia whelan!
Ooh just finished a court of mist and fury and looking forward to the rose and the dagger next!!
how did you like acomaf? i hope you enjoy the rose and the dagger!
Oh my yes I loved acomaf, but there were like 2 slight things that bothered me so when I post my review I’m giving it a 4.9 star rating, but idk I might change my mind and give it that 5 star, I haven’t decided yet lol
