Top 5 Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by gingerreadslainey over on YouTube and Goodreads. This week’s topic was our Top 5 Books to Read by the Fire (winter/holiday recommendations). Just an FYI, these are in no particular order! So without any further ado, let’s get to it!
1.Snow Like Ashes by Sarah Raasch
In this magical fantasy, there are eight kingdoms, four of which are based around an individual season. Our protagonist is a spunky girl fro the kingdom of Winter. What could be more cozy than reading about Winter in winter by a fire? (hint: nothing)
2. The Golden Compass by Philip Pullman
This is such a wintery read! It takes place largely in the North and in this world’s version of Antarctica. It tell of the adventures of Lyra, a young girl, and her friends. It’s really complicated to explain, but it’s really good!
3. My True Love Gave to Me by Various Authors, Edited by Stephanie Perkins
12 holiday stories by some of your favorite authors and edited by Stephanie Perkins! These stories are super cute from what I’ve read so far and the book is a great, quick holiday read!
4. Just One Day by Gayle Forman
I feel like this is really a great book for the New Years time of year. To me, this book is all about new beginnings and starting over. It follows Alison, whose life changes all in a day when she meets Willem, who shows her that the world can be so much more than what she knows and is comfortable with.
5. Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
I don’t know why (especially because I read this book inn the summer), but this book just sings “winter” to me. Maybe it’s the Starbucks, maybe it’s all of the cozying up and reading and writing that goes on in this book, but it’s just so wintery!
So that’s it for this week’s Top 2 Wednesday! Leave your Top 5 Holiday Reads/Books To Read By The Fire or a link to your Top 5 Wednesday down in the comments below!
Fangirl is the best cozy read ever!!
