Fantasy Series I (Claire) Want to Read in 2017

I just finished reading the first two books of Brandon Sanderson’s The Stormlight Archives (review coming sometime relatively soon), and it has filled me with a fervor to read ALL the fantasy books. I have a quite a few fantasy series on my TBR that have been there for a while, and I’m hoping that 2017 is the year I can finally read some of them! One of the good things about putting off reading these for so long is that many of these series have multiple books out already. Perfect for book binging!

Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes

Seven Realms by Cinda Williams Chima

Lightbringer by Brent Weeks

The Winner’s Curse by Marie Rutkoski

Temeraire by Naomi Novik

The Queen of the Tearling by Erika Johansen

Let me know if you’ve read any of these, and what you thought of them! Also, if anyone has standalone fantasy recommendations (like Uprooted by Naomi Novik), I would LOVE to hear them.

  1. I’ve only read the first book in The Winner’s Curse and the Queen of the Tearling series. I was kind of “meh” about both, but I know there are a lot of people who like them.

I loved Uprooted. I may need to stalk your comments and see if anyone suggests something 😉

  2. The Temeraire books are SO GOOD! I’m three books into the series right now and 110% in love 🙂
I really want to read the Winner’s Curse series and the Falling Kingdoms series. They have a lot of hype but I still feel like they’ll impress me (hopefully) 🙂

    1. Oooh good to know! I love that the Temeraire series is so long and has so many books out already–usually I start a fantasy series and have to wait years for the next books to come out. By then I always end up forgetting so much detail!

  3. I’ve had Queen of the Tearling sitting on my shelf for nearly a year. I really want to read it…I just keep not getting to it…

  4. There are so many fantasy series I want to start and read this year. My only problem with them is that they consume a lot of time because they are so detailed and complex, which I love but just dont have a lot of time for.
