the autumn lover blog tag | celebrating the season

Hello again, friends! Fall has arrived and so far, here in the DMV, it’s been a gorgeous season! I’ll be the first to admit it: I don’t have a history of being the biggest fall fangirl, but this year seem to be diffferent. We’ve had moderately warm weather in the mid 60s (Farenheit) for the most part and the colorful leaves have stay around longer than usual. It’s been really beautiful! In celebration of the season, I decided to do the autumn lover blog tag, created by Rebekah over at Books and Hooks!

Autumn Themed Questions
What is your favorite thing about fall?
I really enjoy the symbolism of fall, as weird as that sounds. Like, fall is the season where most types of flora die, but only so they can be reborn, and I think there’s something beautiful about that. Fall is when my mom goes around and collects the heads of some of her flowering plants to re-plant them for the coming year and once she said to me, “People and our lives are very much like flowers, we take the dead and bury it to be born again.”
What is your least favorite thing about fall?
Definitely the cold, dreary weather and the shorter days. I love sunshine and light and my depression tends to worsen throughout fall and winter, in part due to the short, cold days.
What is your favorite fall scent?
I love the scent of chai, vanilla, and cinnamon, it instantly puts me in such an autumnal mood!
What is your favorite fall food?
My family is Black and Lebanese, so every Thanksgiving we have a mixture of foods from those cultures and my mom (who’s also Black and Lebanese) makes this mean rendition of stuffing involving wild rice, olives, red onions, celery, tomatoes, and several other vegetables and I cannot describe just how tasty it is!
What is your favorite fall movie/book?
I don’t tend to re-read books and I also don’t watch many movies, so I’m kinda drawing a blank for those, but one TV series I enjoy watching in the fall is Chilling Adventures of Sabrina on Netflix! It’s so spooky and delightfully camp, it’s fun!
What is your favorite fall song?
I’ll never complain when I hear Lana Del Rey’s raspy rendition of “Season of the Witch” or Sylvia Black’s ethereally haunting version of “I Put A Spell on You”!
What is your favorite fall tradition?
I don’t really have any, so I guess that means it’s time to start some, lol! While I haven’t yet instituted these traditions, I think some fun ones could be apple picking, going on a hayride, and/or throwing or going to a Halloween party!
What is your favorite fall activity?
I mentioned this in my fall bucket list post, but I love walking through cemeteries year-round, but especially in fall. I’ve always found cemeteries to be very peaceful and calming (I know, I’m a weirdo, lol!), and walking through them during fall adds an extra layer of atmosphere.
What is your favorite fall quote?
I hope I can be the autumn leaf, who looked at the sky and lived. And when it was time to leave, gracefully it knew life was a gift.
Dodinsky
What is your favorite fall outfit?
I have a patchwork denim mini skirt that I pair with a patchwork yellow, orange, and red long sleeved tshirt and top off with my brown ankle boots and I really love that outfit!
This or That Questions
Hot cocoa or apple cider?
Nothing against hot chocolate (which I also am a total fiend for!), it’s just more of a winter-y drink for me that reminds me in particular of Christmas. Apple cider also specifically reminds me of autumn because as a kid my family would visit Colonial Williamsburg each year for my birthday (which is in November) and we’d always get the homemade spiced apple cider there, which was so delicious!
Flannel or sweater?
I’ve never been big into flannels (although I did get a cozy and cute oversized flannel recently and I love it) and I’m always colder than the temperature actually is, so I tend to go with sweaters/cardigans.
Apple pie or pumpkin pie?
My family makes a delicious pumpkin pie with an almond crust and a pinch of cinnamon and cayenne powder to top it off and it’s so good!
Rainy days or sunny days?
I’m sunshine girly through and through and I love a crisp, sunny autumn day! Unfortunately gloomy, dreary days tend to make my depression act up, so I’m not a fan of rainy days.
Watch a movie or read a book?
I mean, I run a book blog so are we really surprised?
Sunflower or pumpkin decor?
Uhm…both? I really enjoy a healthy mix of both, lol!
Thanksgiving or Halloween?
Even though my birthday sometimes falls on Thanksgiving, I can’t help but adore Halloween!
Pumpkin patch or apple picking?
Granted, I’ve never been apple picking, so maybe it’s not as fun as it seems, haha!
Spooky autumn or cozy autumn?
Spooky autumn during October and cozy autumn during November!
Pumpkin spice or apple cinnamon?
Don’t get me wrong, I love pumpkin spice too, but there’s just something about apple cinnamon…

Omg this was lovely! And thanks to me that I passed by and checked this because …you would think the pings works? But they don’t for me! At least, they worked only once! I’ll try to find a space for this one in my blogging calendar. Cannot wait!
Can I say one thing? Yes to the fall traditions. It’s always a weird question for me.. because… is even going to, don’t know, a pumpkin patch a tradition? I tend to imagine something more ritualistic than just doing stuff.
I saw you did the tag and aaaahhh I love your answers!! Pings also have been wonky for me, I wonder if it’s our themes? And yes, fall traditions are tricky to find especially since I like to try new things every year lmao! Thank you for dropping by, dear Cam ❤️
I can’t believe you’ve never been apple picking! Maybe because it’s such a tradition up in Canada where I live. Literally the moment September hits, everyone is uploading their apple picking moments to instagram. So maybe not an original tradition… But good if you like apples! I like the sound of your fall outfit, it sounds super cute. I’ve never watched Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, I was worried it would spiral like Riverdale did. Loved your answers to this post!! It was really fun to read.
Thanks for stopping by, Sha ❤️ I always want to go apple-picking, but my plans always fall through *sobs*! Ah well, there’s always next year! I’ve only seen the first half of season one of Chilling Adventures of SAbrina, so I can’t tell you if it goes off the rails like Riverdale did, but so far I’ve really enjoyed it!
Ah, here’s to next year then! I’m crossing my fingers for you. And here’s to Chilling Adventures of Sabrina staying good and strong. I might need to check it out.
This is a fun tag. I love the food you have for Thanksgiving, it sounds delicious
Thank you, Wendy! I hope you had a lovely holiday ❤️
Hopefully you did go apple picking, and you had fun!
We always go the weekend of thanksgiving, most time ending up being SO cold 🥶 thanksfully it was actually a pretty day this year! But as we went a bit earlier there was less people and done in maybe half an hour only 😅
My most favorite food & scent are apple cinnamon
Narrator: Sadly, Lila did not, in fact, go apple picking this year 😂
Lol! Regardless, I’ve had a good fall so far and hopefully next year I’ll actually go apple picking! Thanks for stopping by, Kristina ❤️
Ahah aww! But atleast you had fun
